Cata-Lust

Thabiso “Cata-Lust “ Lawrence is a Johannesburg born rapper who has been writing verses longer than most people think. Mr Lust began writing at the brittle age of eleven, where he emulated his favorite rap duo at the time, "Kriss Kross". His brother and cousins all listened to hip hop and R&B having him follow suit and molded his love for hip hop through their influence. “I consider myself a product of the 90’s era”, he says proudly.

Cata-Lust grew up listening to Naughty by Nature, Busta Rhymes, Canibus, LL Cool J, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Kriss Kross, OutKast, Lost Boyz, and Wu- tang, just to name a few.

At the end of 2004 he formed part of a group called Free Masons, but by early 2006 the group dissolved and Cata slid into the two man brother duo, "TitusTrack", who own the label TitusTrack Productions together. In 2006 he formed a stronger relationship with T.T.P and worked on pilot projects such as “The Curtain Raiser” and “The Unsigned Column” which made its popularity on street level and gained recognition at hip hop sessions such as Youtopia, Splash Jam, and 1808.

In 2007 two more members were added to the TitusTrack team, Foul-Play and Infamous, who finally formed the five man group, "Sounds Intense". Under the label, the self-titled album was released, “TitusTrack Presents: Sounds Intense”

The album was available for promotional use and was a downloadable album with the single, “Go Big Or Go Home”, creating a lot of buzz for the group and landing #1 for three weeks on the YFM Hot 9@9.
2012 opened with Cata-Lust’s solo effort, “Drawing  the Line”, off the album which recently hit the charts on 5FM debuting at #3 on Dj C-Lives’ radio show.

Before 2012 broke its chains, the Sounds Intense group decided to take an alternative route where each member took the solo road to work on their own albums. Cata-Lust has since been working on the Audio/Visual E.P. in preparation to that, he worked with another group, "Rebel Inc".

Cata-Lust featured on 3 of Rebel Inc's hit singles which managed to top the charts, hits like “All about It” with Eugene and Venim, “ We Made It” featuring Mickey M, Eugene and Deejay Sil and finally, “Party Animal” with all the members of Rebel Inc.

Trailing back to the essence of his skill, Cata has various forms of style, but is known best for his polysyllable machine gun flow which sprouts out of nowhere within his verses. "It's about catching your listeners off guard, when they think you going one way, I switch it up". He prides himself on stating that rhyming is a science and a gift combined. "Anybody can rap, but not everybody is an emcee." Rapping on concepts and topics that inspire people to be the best they can be and also be a social commentator on what's going on around him.
